“Therefore, if anyone be in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
Congratulations! Today you have made the best decision of your life—the decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. Right now, all of Heaven is celebrating along with us because you have come into the Kingdom of God! You have been adopted into God’s family (Luke 15:10; 1 John 3:1).
You have taken the first step in the journey of a life,me. It’s an exciting journey of faith and discovery. You will discover who God is, His great love for you, all that He has for you in His Kingdom, and who you were created to be in Him to fulfill your purposes and destiny. You were born for a reason! You are alive today for a reason!
On your journey you will learn how to have a relationship with God and how that relationship will positively impact your life.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 3:18
You may be wondering what is next. Now that you have changed direction (repented) and have acknowledged Jesus as your Lord and Savior, there are some other steps you will need to make.
NURTURE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST
“But continue to grow and increase in God’s grace and intimacy with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May he receive all the glory both now and until the day eternity begins. Amen!” 2 Peter 3:18 The Passion Translation
Read the Bible regularly: Find a translation of the Bible that you understand and begin in the New Testament. Don’t worry if you don’t understand some things now. Ask Holy Spirit to help you and the words will come alive for you.
Pray: Prayer is a two-way conversation with God. You can talk to Him about anything and He will speak to you. Learn to listen so you can become acquainted with the voice of God.
Worship God: There are many expressions of worship—singing, dancing, telling God how much you love Him. Spend time in worship in God’s presence. And again, listen to hear what He is speaking; for while there are many expressions of worship, the ultimate expression is obeying Him.
BE BAPTIZED
“Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38
Baptism represents the death and burial of the old you, and your resurrection to a new life in Christ. Baptism always follows belief and changing your heart to go after God. Know that baptism doesn’t save us; we are saved by God’s unearned favor and love. Baptism is an outward sign that we are now living a new life in Jesus and we are not the same.
Read Romans 6:1-5; Mark 16:16
RECEIVE HOLY SPIRIT
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26
The wonderful thing about this new life is that you are not left by yourself to figure it out. Jesus promised that the Father would send a Helper, who is Holy Spirit, to guide us, to teach us, to direct us and even let us know when we are wrong. Holy Spirit is the One who empowers and enables you. He is a gift that we receive by asking the Father in faith (Luke 11:13). He is God living inside you, helping you become all He desires you to be.

CONNECT WITH A LOCAL FELLOWSHIP
“…not forgetting to gather as a community, as some have forgotten, but encouraging each other, especially as the day of His return approaches.” Hebrews 10:25
You are not alone. In addition to Holy Spirit, God has placed you in His family, a family with other believers who can walk with you and help you grow. It is important that you connect with a body of believers—a local fellowship—where you can worship together, learn together, and grow together. Connect with a fellowship that teaches the Bible and helps you to have an authentic encounter with God.
We would be excited to have you be a part of the family at HEIRS Covenant Church. Our mission is to help all people fulfill their God-given purposes and destiny. We would be honored if we could help you.
